STORY
I’m bi-coastal — born on the East Coast, moved to the West Coast at age eight, and back and forth ever since. That’s what you get with a dad in New England and a mom in SoCal.
In the latter, we lived in the OC, in Garden Grove, where I was wicked smart enough to participate in their Mentally Gifted Minors (MGM) program.
I went to Occidental College in Los Angeles, what I like to call a liberal liberal arts school. I received the Comparative Literature award for my senior thesis, which compared Homer’s Odyssey to the Egyptian myth of Isis and Osiris.
After college, I started in publishing in LA then heard the siren call of the East Coast. There, I worked for several Fortune 500 companies, but spent the majority of my career at Fidelity Investments in various marketing and communications roles.
When the Internet was invented, I fell. I transitioned from print to web. For the rest of my corporate career, I launched more than 30 websites and digital products, including iPhone apps, AI chat tools, a mobile wallet, and website design systems.
From early memories of I Love Lucy, I knew I wanted to be-slash-am-I-hope funny. Even when I was earning a living in the corporate world, I wrote and performed stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy.
It’s West Coast time again, and I moved back here with my son who wants to work in animation. I’m pivoting from a corporate to creative career, not wanting to retire anytime soon.
